The brief
We were asked to create an app to be pre-installed on exclusive V Festival edition Nokias, as well as being available for download from the Ovi Store and bluetoothed around the festival site.
The solution
We designed and built an app that went beyond the boundaries of all other festival apps. We really wanted Nokia users to get as much out of the V Festival as possible. So we included as many useful features as we could. The Line-up scheduler and Clashfinder allowed users to make sure they got to see their favourite artists. The interactive map helped users find their way around the festival and add custom markers so they could later pinpoint their car or tent. Newsfeeds kept users up to date with what was going on and weather feeds let users know when to take shelter in the beer tent. And integration with Facebook, Flickr, YouTube, and Twitter allowed users to share their festival experiences. The app even gave away free tickets.
The outcome
The app helped drive sales of Virgin Media Nokia devices as well as achieving over 25,000 downloads. The app’s features really engaged with festival goers and with 160,000 people attending the festival, we estimate that 39% of festival goers with a compatible device downloaded the app. The reviews say it all:
